Fahir Gök, president of the Lighting Equipment Manufacturers Association, will question the supply chain again with the COVİD19 process and this inquiry will offer opportunities on behalf of Turkey and our sector.

Reflections of the Process That Started with Covid 19 Virus on the Lighting Sector

Since the beginning of the epidemic period, we exchange information on the effects of the epidemic by providing effective communication with our members. We know that today's members continue to produce 90% of the time, 10% of our members who continue to produce are at full capacity and 70% are working at fifty percent capacity.

We know that the same situation is true in european union member states, as we follow from the daily meetings with LightingEurope, of which we are a member. For example, if you want to use In the UK, the impact of the epidemic on the sector has decreased by 55%. Although there is a reduction in capacity, we know that all our members are working and striving for continuity in production. Protecting employment, ensuring work peace is our wish. When we review the current state of the market as sales channels, we can say that the project sales channel is in operation despite the epidemic, while the commercial channel entered a stable period in April.

Prior to the outbreak, the lighting sector was moving rapidly in line with the momentum gained by the growth rates of 2019, especially in the export market. Again, the new opportunities created by lighting being an integral part of energy efficiency and the implementation of national action plans in this regard contributed to this rapid progress in terms of the domestic market. Although this rapid progress has been suspended due to the outbreak, we believe that this exit will continue after the outbreak. Especially as we have always said, The Turkish Lighting Sector will become more important in the future with the geographical location of our country, logistical network advantage, production capacity and human resources. Many countries and manufacturers in Europe, including China, will question the supply chain again, which will provide opportunities for Turkey and our sector. New habits, changing memorizations and new normals will change production processes. As the lighting industry, we are an externally dependent industry, although this dependence decreases as we watch from the import data every year, we anticipate that this will decrease much more in the future.Since lighting is an essential element in daily life due to its added value in terms of safety, comfort and health, the efforts of countries to be self-sufficient in lighting equipment will increase in the future, and we will take important steps in the domestic production of high value-added components and parts by doing our part in this regard. In particular, we can announce that the important step taken by accepting LED chip production as a high-tech product in the country's policy will come to life as a production very soon.

We believe that the sector will strengthen and easily reach our export targets by seeing and evaluating this change as an opportunity for our manufacturer. Again, as in the whole world, a significant impact of the epidemic on the sector in our country will be the increase in domestic production.

As mentioned above, we had the opportunity to closely monitor the activities of our sector in other countries and exchange information through LightingEurope, of which we are a founding member. We can state that we are at the same stage as many European countries, especially the UK, when it comes to reducing their production capacity. We know that global producers are experiencing serious problems in the supply chain and logistics network, primarily with the outbreak starting and spreading in the Far East. During this period, we know from our discussions with our members that our manufacturer has made accurate and efficient planning in its foreign supplies related to parts and components. Although the process is different from all the crises experienced to date, it is also indisputable that the Turkish manufacturer has competencies in crisis management. For example, if you want to use We know that payment maturities are deferred in different countries today, one of which is Turkey, our manufacturer strives to take measures despite these postponements and to create timely solutions by acting very quickly on cash management.

What have you done as an institution in the meantime? Our most important activity in the process is to communicate actively with our members and to share with them the developments in our country and the world and any information that can support them. One of the things we need most during this period is to remember that we are one, that our problems are the same and that we can all take steps together for common solutions.Since the beginning of the epidemic period, we exchange information on the effects of the epidemic by providing effective communication with our members. We know that today's members continue to produce 90% of the time, but they are largely operating at 50% capacity. As we follow from our daily meetings with LightingEurope, of which we are a member, we know that the same situation is true in european union member states. For example, if you want to use The impact of the epidemic on the sector in the UK is a 55% reduction in production capacity. Although there is a reduction in capacity, we know that all our members are working and striving for continuity in production. We wholeheartedly support this effort.

Regardless, we continue to work to prevent unfair competition caused by non-standard products and the marketization of these products, which is an important industry problem. We know that unfair competition will be prevented as we increase awareness and awareness of the regulations in practice for market supervision and supervision of lighting products, and we direct our studies accordingly

As we shared in our previous openings, we want to establish a lighting center that can produce, train and support the producer and end user in accordance with the standards in every topic they need along the way, first in our country, then in turn, in every topic they need along the way, in our journey, which we have started with the statement that THE LIGHTING OF TURKEY, the most important project for our sector, is illuminating the world and aiming to be among the top 10 in world exports. In the center, which is planned as four main sections

– Lighting Test Laboratory

– Lighting Training Academy

– Lighting R&D and Technology Development Center

– Lighting Equipment Waste Management Center will be located.

Although we have to take a short break from our work on this center due to the global pandemic, we will continue with much higher energy and desire than where we left off. Finally, we would like to state that we have different objectives with our responsibility in the management of EEEE and we would like to inform you about this. We aim to increase the awareness of each consumer about recycling these products in small household appliances and lamps, which are the product groups we are authorized to authoritative. Today, we have reached approximately 20% of the population of Turkey in relation to the collection of these two groups, the number of Municipalities we cooperate with is close to 56, and we have achieved a collection rate in which we have achieved a significant increase in our fluorescent lamp collection targets in 2019 and are ahead when compared to many European principles, not only in Turkey. We believe that this will increase step by step and we are working to contribute to our future. This period in particular can be an important opportunity to review our part as an individual or community for all waste, including e-waste.
