50 THOUSAND EURO AWARD TO THE PROJECT, WHICH IS THE FIRST IN THE TAXI DESIGN COMPETITION

The application process of the International Taksim Urban Design Competition, which was opened by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Cultural Assets, has started. The deadline for first-stage project delivery is May 10, 2020.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality continues its urban design competitions for public open spaces with Taksim Square. IBB, which organizes "Istanbul Gets Its Public Spaces" themed activities in order to make public spaces accessible, free, lively, peaceful and safe places, wants to carry out these activities by consulting with stakeholders, listening to the needs of the city and taking their opinions.

Taksim, which has the quality of being "the place of everyone and everything" in every period, is one of the important intersections of global and local in Istanbul. Based on this feature of Taksim, the competition is organized to produce a democratic urban public space experience that embraces the sensitivities of all segments of society in the region.

FIRST STAGE FINAL DELIVERY DATE 10 MAY

In the competition, which will be held in two stages, the first stage process has begun. The first stage project deadline was announced as May 10, 2020; notifications to those who have moved to the second tier will be made on 19 May 2020. The colloquium and award ceremony will be held on July 18, 2020.

THREE 50 THOUSAND EURO REWARDS

Each of the 20 projects past the first tier will be paid 5,000 euros. Three designs to be selected from the projects that have moved into the second tier will receive a 50,000-euro prize. Five 10,000 euro honorable mentions will be handed out.

IN THE COMPETITION, MEMBERS, RAPPORTEURS AND ASSISTANTS WILL SERVE ASİL, RESERVE AND ADVISORS.

The original jurors are Architect Ayşe Zeynep Ahunbay, Architect Ipek Akpınar Aksugür, Urban planner Can Kubin, Landscape Architect Arzu Kutkam, Jury President Architect Kerem Piker, Architect Manuel de Rivero and Landscape architect Rainer Schmidt.

IBB President Ekrem Imamoglu, IBB Deputy Secretary General Mehmet Pebbleoglu, IBB Cultural Assets Department Head Mahir Polat, IBB Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department Head Tayfun Kahraman, Architect Hayri Haydar Karabey, Architect Korhan Gümüş and IPA Competitions Coordinator Omer Yilmaz will be present as consultant jury members.
