Istanbul's new airport, which will be the largest and most modern airport in the world, was opened with a magnificent ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by a Albanian President Ilir Meta, Kyrgyzstan President Sooronbay Ceenbekov, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Mustafa Akinci, Macedonian President Corge Ivanov, Moldovan President Igor Dodon, Pakistani President Arif Alvi, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, Bosnian Prime Minister Denis Zvidzic, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Azerbaijan Parliament Speaker Oktay Asadov representative of the country and the international organization.
When Istanbul Airport is in full service, Ataturk Airport in Greenville will be closed to commercial flights but will maintain the quality of the airport, President Erdogan said. The areas of Ataturk Airport other than these activities will be opened to the people of Istanbul as a National Garden as promised. However, we will hopefully make the current closed areas the biggest fair of our country, Istanbul. Therefore, it will be called Ataturk Airport and this will be called Istanbul Airport. The name of our airport is also good."

Istanbul Airport; Noting that Turkey is a project that will be an example in the world with its architecture, construction, operation and financing, President Erdogan continued: "I would like to thank our public institutions, banks, contractors, subcontractors, engineers and workers who contributed to every stage of this giant project from its study to its construction and operation."
President Erdogan stated that many people wondered if the project would end when they rolled up their sleeves and tendered in 2013 to build Istanbul Airport, and said that these hesitations continued even when the ground was delivered and construction started in May 2015.
"THE AIRPORT WILL CONTINUE TO GROW FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS"
The airport;; President Erdogan stated that the airport will continue to grow for the next 10 years and that all stages will be completed by 2028.
President Erdogan stated that 120,000 people will be employed for the services at the airport, which is an environmentally friendly and unobstructed project that produces its own energy, and that every unit at the airport is designed and built in a state-of-the-art manner above international standards.
Announcing that alternative transportation opportunities will be provided from the airport to the city center by road, rail and sea, and that many innovations will be made with this project on air traffic and safety, President Erdogan stated that the investment price of the project is 10 billion 247 million euros and the rent price to be paid to the state is 22 billion 152 million euros.

President Erdogan stated that Geographically Turkey, especially Istanbul, has always been in a strategic position throughout history, "With the inauguration of our Istanbul Airport, Turkey has become the most important transit center between the north-south and east-west axle. Our airport connects 60 countries and $20 trillion economies in this vast area."
President Erdogan also stated that with the opening of Istanbul Airport, european airspace will need to be restructured.
President Erdogan noted that the airport will operate as a smart airport that appeals to the world of the future, with features and technology-oriented management that will save 40 percent in energy and water efficiency. Noting that European airspace will need to be restructured with the introduction of Istanbul Airport, President Erdogan stated that "now that istanbul will be the most important transfer point, the routes of intercontinental flights will also change greatly".

President Erdogan said that it is no coincidence that this work, which will mark history with its location and features, was built in Turkey, and stressed that Turkey has prepared itself for the future by making huge investments in all fields from education to health, transportation and energy in the past 16 years.
President Erdogan stated that even the level reached in the field of aviation alone is a success story in itself, and that since taking office, they have increased the number of airports from 26 to 56, and with those still under construction and project, this number will increase to 64 in the coming years. Pointing out that Turkish Airlines ranks first in the world as a destination by increasing the number of international destinations from 60 to 316, President Erdogan reminded that the number of countries flown has increased from 50 to 122, the number of large-bodied aircraft has increased from 162 to 506, and the turnover of the Turkish aviation sector has increased from $2.2 billion to $25 billion.
Many lighting companies took part in the Istanbul Airport project with their products. The products of many of our domestically produced companies are used in the new airport.
