"WE MUST RECEIVE FINANCIAL TREATMENTS THAT CAN CARRY OUR COMPANIES AFTER THE PANDEMIC"
We asked our companies in the Lighting Sector what they did during the Pandemic period and what awaited us after that.
What are your thoughts on the implications of the process in the lighting industry?
Covid-19 is one of the greatest disasters that has happened to our world and our country, partly because it reaps what the human son sows. Naturally, it limited the working and trading environment, resulting in significant revenue losses in all our fields of activity. As an industry, we are affected between 10% and 50%.
Although we try to change the way we work in our departments where measures such as working from home, short-term work, etc. are appropriate, it is a fact that we have difficulty with productivity.
Since the measures taken due to the virus in domestic and international markets affect orders, payments and shipments with surpluses, it is inevitable that economies will shrink and become increasingly bottlenecked. We expect the crisis to end as soon as possible by producing solutions that our employees will not be adversely affected.
Well, it looks like we're going to have to. Even if we avoid this scourge, the scars and remnants will continue to affect life for a long time, in a sense we will get used to living together. Therefore, we have to continue to exist with measures that our employees, then customers and suppliers will not be victims of.

It is inevitable that there will be loss of turnover, it is impossible to talk about profitability in this case. For these reasons, it seems that counting or healthy downsizing will be necessary. There is a need for a controlled reduction of all expenditures except for vital and complementary investments.
We are confident that we will reach the aftermath of the storm strongly and we believe that the partial losses we experienced during this period will be recouped quickly. Because even during this period, we do not victimize anyone who works, customers, suppliers, and we try to be with them as much as we can in those who have periodic difficulties.
What have you done as a company in the meantime?
From the moment the virus started to be talked about in the world, we started to take pioneering measures in our company before the first cases started to be detected in Turkey. We tightened the measures after it became clear that cases were on an upward trend and that it was inevitable that we would pass through this "tunnel".
So, we immediately sent home our employees with the slightest weakness. (Age, chronic disease, pregnancy, etc.) Without government support, we imposed an obligation to distribute and use our first masks, tightened hygiene rules and distributed the necessary equipment and supplies to every point, began to carry out routine fever measurements at the entrance, exit, meal break and tea breaks, to transport those who appeared distressed to the hospital or to send them home (By the way, thankfully, there were no negatives in our one or two high fever shipments).

We started the application of "safe distance" in offices, workplaces, service and dining halls, and organized trainings with visual applications by hanging announcement and information posters in various places all over our company.
Two things we didn't do; lay off workers and send them on unpaid leave!!!
If we talk about the measures we have taken economically; I can say that we have taken financial measures that can take our company to the aftermath of the disaster by foreseeing that 2020 will be spent dealing with this scourge. In order to minimize the negative consequences of possible job losses, taking and implementing austerity measures is among our leading tasks. In the meantime, we continue our business development and product development efforts continuously.
